Well, I think it’s a Hairy Woodpecker and not a Downy, even though the bill doesn’t look quite long enough. But then it doesn’t look stubby enough for a Downy to me either. The bird was in the neighborhood of 10 inches long, too large for a Downy, so I’m calling it a Hairy. However, I’d be willing to entertain other opinions, so leave a comment and tell me what you think, ok? Don’t make me beg.
